Ramsey Hanafi’s practice focuses on representing workers in employment disputes in both individual and class action cases.  His early legal career was multi-faceted and he still draws on this experience in his current work representing Plaintiffs. From 2009 to 2010 Ramsey served as General Counsel for a mid-sized development and environmental remediation company.  In 2010 he joined Kumin Sommers LLP, a Plaintiff’s employment and small business consulting firm. He represented Plaintiffs in employment law disputes and also consulted with Northern California businesses in complex land use, permitting, and regulatory issues. In 2011, Ramsey joined Sommers Employment Law Group, a law firm 100% dedicated to California Plaintiff’s employment law.

Ramsey represents employees in litigation through trial in wage and hour, discrimination, retaliation, sexual harassment, wrongful termination, hostile work environment, unpaid commissions, misclassification, whistleblower, and many other areas of employment law. Ramsey also consults with professional and executive level employees in negotiations for severance agreements, employment contracts, trade secret agreements, non-disclosure and confidentiality agreements, stock option agreements, and incentive compensation plans, to name a few.

Ramsey’s experience with small business clients and technology startups also provides him with a unique background in the intersection between employment law and business. He has experience litigating and consulting with business clients on numerous transactional issues, intellectual property (trademark and copyright), software licensing, trade secrets, wireless technology, land use and permitting, and breach of contract issues.

Other than the joy of securing victories for his clients, Ramsey also takes pride in coaching San Francisco high school students in the YMCA’s mock trial program. In mock trial, lawyers coach students on how to litigate and try a case from start to finish, with students eventually performing a mock trial in front of a real judge and real volunteer jurors in San Francisco Federal District Court. In this program Ramsey and other amazing coaches help San Francisco youth from all walks of life become more confident in themselves, comfortable speaking in front of others, and proficient in advocacy and persuasion.
